Grimoire, Book of Shadows and Journals

I read somewhere, and it is a great piece of info and I wish I could remember where I saw it and give that person props for it.  My apologies.  It went something like, "The difference between the grimoire and the book of shadows is that one sits on a shelf as a ready reference and the other sits on the altar.".

This is my grimoire.  A 3 inch, stuffed full, 3 ring binder chock full of information on alot of different things.

First section is overall important to know information.  I have an excerpt from one of my books called Healing Wise, the charge of the crone, the witches creed, and the wiccan rede (although I am not wiccan it is still a great piece of advice), a witches alphabet and a page on how to calculate the phase of the moon.

I have sections for my Goddesses and God, Sabbats and Esbats, How to's, Herbs both magical and medicinal (that part of the book is the largest section), my animal totems, meditation and chakras, Correspondences (the next largest section in my grimoire), Divination, and lastly are my personal pages.

These are what I would consider my books of shadows.  The two larger ones are "recipe" books and the smaller one is the one I carry in my purse and it is a ready reference with information on herbs and flowers, correspondences, rune information a few poems.

These next books are my journals, and or back up files and two are my daily journals where I keep track of my readings that I do daily.  One is a planting journal, and one is for working up spells.

These books here hold the meat of what I do and are more practical for me that an expensive BOS like the one in practical magic....that I would loooove to have, but it's just not practical.

Usually I am in and out of at least one or two of these books on a daily basis and I enjoy them all.
