Making A Home Homier
We lost 1000 sq ft, but gained so much more. Our little home hidden in the heights is cozy and homey. Easy to care for and the yard is just right. We are looking for something a bit bigger, but are going to enjoy this little home while we can. I haven't felt like I'm home in a long, long time.
On a side note, I would almost bet that the stove belonged to a kitchen witch at some point in time during its life. Everything we make on it is cooked almost to perfection! And our landlord is awesome!

A house into a home
We have moved from the house in the woods to the little house in the heights. The neighborhood doesn't have such a good reputation, but we have managed to make a cozy little home in the middle of it. We lost a thousand square feet moving from one home to this one and have had to secure a storage unit. Only planning on staying long enough to save and find a larger home, I find myself gradually getting attached to this home. Which puts us right back in the same predicament we were in with the last house, this one is also for sale. So...half dozen of the other?
The stove...I would almost swear that a kitchen witch has put her handy mark on it. EVERYTHING we cook on that stove turns out delicious. Jeremy made an omelet the other day and it smelled burnt, but tasted fine. I have half a mind to but it off the land lord when we move lol.
We did not get the house on Ballantrae because our credit wasn't up to snuff, no matter how many spells a person could create, won't erase bad credit.

A Dark Pagans Rede
The Dark Pagan's Rede
~ Dubh Paganach Rede ~ Sgathan "Shadow Witches" Rede
For those who walk a shadowed path for whatever reason
Because it is a path in your soul that calls too you, a particular
Goddess of dark paganism that calls too you or who you are,
Trust your heart and follow what it speaks, as it will never be wrong.
We are Witches, We Are Ancients
Those that stand out amoung shadows
We are weavers, healers and shamans, and warriors
Judge and Jury
And This is our Creed.
Do not Offend, But Defend
Give your kin a house if they have no home
Remember in all forms are we the goddesses children in one way or another
She is the weaver, the threader and the cutter of Life
No matter what name she is called, she is the great mother, The All, The
Source
Know the Great dance and the Spiral is never ending and your day's
Walk long, and most often someone will try and break your paths
But when the wolves tear at your heels, remember only the hardest
Paths are the paths worth Walking.
Life will not be without troubles, fights, hardships
And we are not witches too get nor gain
For that is but an empty path that leads too greed and the ruin of
Your soul.
We are the witches, singers, shamans, dreamers, weavers, healers and
Warriors of the wild winds, in the storms and in the fury of the storm
And of Life. Our knowledge is all knowing, yet we continue too learn
Things everyday, as is our right.
Treat your kin with as much respect as you wish too be treated and
You can not be lead astray.
Treasure everyday as it were your last, cherishing the beauty of all
Life and all things.
Protect this rugged earth mother as best you can. Honor her. Even if
It is but a Rock, know that it too has its own spirit. Life is
Everywhere, and magick can be breathed in as its purest essence.
Know as the Goddesses child, no matter what you call her she is always
There beside you, inside you and with you. Believe this always and you
Will never be forsaken, even when there is a lesson too be learnt that
She must teach you, even if that lesson whips you across the face,
It has purpose and reason.
Keep your eyes and your ears open, and listen not only with the
Physical eye, but the astral ones, for their are signs in all things.
In the wind, the rain, the sky and the deep earth.
Never look back on your past until you feel you are ready, and
Remember we have a long way too go.
There is Strength in the Darkness, In Shadows and also in The Light,
And shadows can not exist without Perfect balance of Light and Dark.
We are the Children of Grey Magick, and its Power is Thine too Wield!..

For a long moment now I have been searching through other Goddesses and lore only to read this today and reolize that Hecate has been with me from the beginning, inspiring me long before I even knew who She was. Granted I have only known Her as the little crumpled old lady that hangs out in a green house shuffling about, but She has been there none the less.

Mini altar
We are in the middle of moving, the house we were living in sold and I am jealous of the people that bought it lol. So I had packed most all of my altar, and I felt lost, no...just weird without it. I looked up a few things online about mini altars and symbols for elements and was able to put this together.

North is a penny with a pentacle drawn on it with sharpie for earth, west is my cauldron for water, a pegasus in the east for air, and red tea light in the south for fire, then a black stone representing Hecate. I love it, and I feel much better now.

Esbat
Once again it is full moon night. I don't have anything put together for tonight, still studying, but will definitely at the very least go outside, as I do every night and admire Her.

A Witch Alone
Several thumbs up, I'm gonna have to borrow thumbs, but this book....it speaks volumes to me. I know what I have in my head, and I know what its not. This all started several years ago and years after that it lead me to one of the first books that started me down my path that I bought in 1991, Mary Summer Rains book Earthway. In my heart its this deep connection to Mother Earth, in my head its, "Let's get a soda.", you know, the ones from the gas station in STIROFOAM CUPS....UGH! Need to find balance, happy medium between the way life is lived today and the way that takes care of, respects and adores our earth mother.
A Beaufitul Day
Spent most of yesterday outside walking around the yard with Emma discovering springs early risers, took a walk with Taime and her girls Isabelle and Lydia, and I took Emma with me, we walked around our little neighborhood. Later in the afternoon we cleaned up the front porch and went gathering wood that had fallen over winter and the pics are the results of those efforts and the moon....

Dreams
I dream alot. My last dream was of a horse show in a horse arena the likes that would make Lemony Snickets blush. It was sort of tilted and felt like we were on tilting telephone poles for our seats. And there were dogs too, one black and white.
next dream, guy, myself and josh we're driving around house hunting, we lived in like a venice italy apartment building of sorts
alot like this only with paved streets. we were driving around in a small vehicle that had a sun roof and we had gone back to the house because josh wanted to grab something and on the ground on the walkway was an athame, a very simple athame with a simple black handle, and guy asked, "did it get left out again?", and on a table that was more like a stool there was some folded paper, lipstick and something else i can't remember, but i grabbed the lipstick and the thing i can't remember. there was a little white dog in this one.

Connecting
As most of us were not raised wiccan, and that is just a thing, neither good or bad, we all managed to find our way home. Back to my original thought, because of that one fact most of us are disconnected from all that is living. Even our pets. The term "pets" refers to the now where we are a time that enjoys dressing our pets, giving them lush beds to lay in. But our animal friends are much more than that, and what is going on now almost cheapens them. They are able to be so much more, even life savers.
I was watching a youtube interview with Ellen Dugan at the St. Louis Pagan Picnic. She found it ironic that we are supposed to be Wiccan and yet there was folks bitching about the heat, the bugs and so on. I know, that I have to consciously make an effort to even consider our planet, my personal surroundings. I have to remind myself to expand my mind to encompass life. I find it sad that we are not raised this way, that considering our planet, our mother, isn't ingrained in us already. I pray for the day when my consciousness expands to fully encompass all that it should.

Full Moon
It is Esbat and I have the stomach flu. But...I was able to get some seeds in some pots, I planted sage, lemon balm, and lavender. We are going to be moving and I want to take my plants with me. I got my working candle carved and am working on the blessing for my BOS.

This is my very modest altar. I don't have much in the way of ritual tools and what I do have has been around for years.
Can you tell funding is a little low right now lol. On the upside, the coffee can and margarine tub are not in the trash :-). The green pot is sage, the margarine tub is lavender, and the coffee can is lemon balm.
My baby Imi who doesn't venture far from me if I am not feeling well. My beautiful girl.
Today at midnight our granddaughter Cat turns 10. Happy Birthday and your daddy misses you and loves you.

Houseplants
This is a picture of four of our house plants that live on my dresser at the moment. I named the Ivy ~ "Lura", the Cyclamen is named ~ "Sadie", the palm tree looking one in the back is named ~ "Mazie" and the little baby aloe in the way back is named ~ "Elizabeth". I love plants and I can't wait to get more :-).

Old House
This house has loved us and kept us safe and somehow I feel we failed in being able to continue to live here. Living in this house has been nothing short of magickal and I will dearly miss living here.
Winter 09-10
Our house surrounded by trees.
One very dark morning in July.
A doe that wondered through our front yard.
A full moon through the trees.
Hot air balloon floating by.
Hummingbird.
The little raccoon that was up the tree
in front of our house.
Beautiful irisis's.
The trees watching the sun set.
The sun through the forest.
I absolutely love this house in the woods, but because of cut's at my
husbands job, mainly hours that amounted in a thousand dollar
loss a month, we got behind in rent. It has never fallen
a whole month behind, but none the less.
But still I am looking forward to what else might be out there.
Asatru
I remember when I first played Dungeons and Dragons how much I connected with the norse mythos more so than any other. Most of my fighters were of Odin, a few of my clerics, but their magick was limited if I remember right. It is good to know that Odin has true worshipers if only for the fact that he's Odin and one of the baddest ass dudes in goddom. Hail Odin!

New House
We found out yesterday off of craigs list that the house we are living in got put up for rent so we have begun the search for a new home. I have an idea of how I am hoping our new home will feel. Cozy. Found a very sweet little didy last night at this lil site, it is absolutely all I would hope to say about finding a home.
A house of my own
A house to be free
A house that loves me
and is perfect for me.
A perfect house
to rest and play
where my heart
is at home,
is coming my way.
My own home to live,
to love and to grow,
this is my will,
now make it so.
Wherever our new home lies I hope it makes all feel welcome, who mean us no harm, and for those that do may they feel an uncomfortable twinge that makes them think better of coming our way.

My Year and A Day
I started my year and a day on Feb 4, 2010. Since then I have begun my studies using information and books from Ellen Dugan, Scott Cunningham and numerous sites on the web including Wiccan Together where I am enrolled in studies with Learning Wiccan Beginners . The lessons are pretty basic, but its all knowledge needed to be gone over. Other groups offer different lessons.
This is my first altar, as you can see I don't have very much in the way of ritual tools, I do have an athame, but its a little too decorative for this altar which is dedicated to the elements. Ah, but someday....
My granddaughters, and they are cousins, Isabelle and Emma chillin out in my room watching Toy Story. There is magic in all love even if it is only fleeting lol.
A Symbol of Hecate
While surfing the net I came across this jewelry site Moon Child's Jewelry . It wasn't just the pendant that caught my attention, but also her description. Here it is:
Ugly, warts protruding from her nose and chin, mysterious, dark and loathsome. Hecate is associated with the dark side of the moon; but this is the true moon. The moon has no light of it's own, only reflected light of the sun. Like the moon, Hecate is dark. She symbolizes the dark within us, the part of our psyche we refuse to acknowledge. We ignore the wisdom, the strength, and the truth of Hecate, because our fear of the darkness is so strong. In Western society we value beauty, youth and money above all else. We hide our elderly, our sick and our poor so we can pretend to be immune to such human conditions, but Hecate reminds us of the truth. Hecate sees through the facade of societal amenities. Hecate is not deceived by social standing, education, or titles, and wealth. She is patroness to those on the outskirts of society. She believes not only in
second chances, but thirds and fourths. Her mantle of healing covers the forsaken, when the rest of society turns it's back. As the triple goddess, Hecate represents maiden, mother and crone; mind, body and spirit; and birth, life and death. As mistress if the night, she represents the three stages of the lunar cycle, new, full and dark. As ruler of the menstrual cycles, Hecate can wreak havoc in the lives of women and the men who love them. Hecate rules over childbirth, menstruation and menopause. All the powers that men fear most! Hecate enforces feminine indedepence from masculine influence! But men and women take heed! Hecate is a Goddess for all. She is the great equalizer. Invoke Hecate into your life and rid yourself of dualistic beliefs; black and white, good and bad. In truth and wisdom. Hecate can propagate balance and neutrality into your
life and bring forth compassion for the self and all who share the human condition."
A History
I have had dreams with an elderly woman in a black dress with a brown apron like thing and she was shuffling about in a garden shed or probably a green house after dark.
The woman in this photo bears a striking resemblance to the woman that visits me in my dreams. I have never seen her as ugly, but at the same time...she is no precious old lady either. She is to be respected and heeded. As for the "darker" side, everybody has a darker side, anyone who says they don't have a darker side are either affraid of it or lying.
Hecate is my teacher, guide, and defender at times. She is what she is no matter how much we humans muddle up her history.
