Nevada

First came the fire, quickly ignited and quick to make things uncomfortable. Destruction of the life I had once known, but was no longer flourishing within.  Fire, of course, is a metaphor. Betrayal, which for me was the straw and I was undone.
My cousins, who live in Las Vegas and knew something was wrong, came and got me and brought me here.  I left my babies, but they are all grown and they are all in Missouri, so it's not so bad.  I miss hugging them.
I thought the desert would be barren, desolate.  It is anything but that.  There is such strength, wisdom and beauty in the desert.  The sky goes on forever.  The desert is teaming with life, most of which scare folks, but they are just out here trying to live, just like everyone else.  It is an amazing land.
